Well, before I did anything I just tried the record function again. I listened to the tape as it was recording, just alittle static. then after playing a couple of tapes, tried record agin with no signal. this time no static when checking the sound using the monitor/source function. Yesterday it was horrendous with static with no input. It seems the more I play with the record button, the quitier it gets. So I am leaning towards dirty switches. Can you recommend a good cleaner.the cables all were in use before I hooked up the deck. I just shuffled them around, varying lengths and all. I will try and record agi tonight when I get home. I will try and report back tomorrow. Derek
