Sounds like you may have a short or a loose connection somewhere. The first thing I would check would be all of your RCA cables. Try wiggling them around a bit, pulling them out, and reconnecting them, perhaps sequencing the cables differently and see if the problem doesn't go away or appear 'elsewhere' in the circuit. If that's the case, then a simple change out with new cables should fix the problem. Another thing might be that a lot of dust or grime has worked its way into the record buttons or input pots. A squirt of contact cleaner might help.If changing the cables or cleaning your switches doesn't remedy the issue, then yes, most likely the issue is internal with the deck and will need to be serviced. A "magnetized" head should not be to blame for what you're describing.
