and how long your cables are and what the impedance of your system is. If it's tube and unbuffered then it can be unforgiving. If it's transistor and lower impedance then more forgiving on distance. If on the other had you have a pro tube deck with input and output transformers then you can succeed very well. Tell us what you have. Are you going to tape from vinyl using a phono preamp. etc? It's not that hard to add buffering in the form of a transformer or a cathode follower stage.
