Hey Mike.Metal tapes have a higher coercivity level (coercivity = the ability for the magnetic particles on the tape to retain their integrity), so it could be said that metal tapes are better for this reason.
That being said, most of my taping is done on CrO2 tapes. I have very good luck with both Maxell & TDK chrome tapes, with TDK having a very slight edge over Maxell in the quality control department, in my opinion. Both are fine, tho.
