Tails out & stuff

Hi.

If you have stuff you want to last a very long time with less chance of print-through, then tails out is a good idea. If it's just dubs of commercially available material, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have both heads-out & tails-out tapes that have been fine for many years.

The goal of storing tails-out is to minimize the tape tension during storage and ensure an even tape pack. Fast winding usually puts more tension on the tape. The tighter the tape pack, the higher the chance of print-through. If you play side two of your tapes through to the end (assuming you have a quarter track deck) it's the same effect as storing tails-out.

Cheers & happy taping,
Bobbo :-)
