RE: Cassette Deck Recommendation

There is a Revox B710 on ebay at $255 with 3 days to go. It's no Dragon, but it is beautifully made and has no belts. There is also the Studer version of the same deck on ebay at $161 with 4 days to go. I had the Studer, and seem to recall it had balanced XLR connectors, but making adapters to single-ended is easy.

The unknown is always head wear. If the heads need and can tolerate relapping, that can easily be a few hundred dollars. If they won't take relapping then you need to find new ones. Tape is expensive, but sometimes you get lucky.
