RE: Speed range needed according to tapes to be played back

Have to side with Myles.

on a properly set up machine 15 or 30 ips blows away hi rez digital, and I do a lot of high rez digital recording. Live to 2 track with no compresssion; AKG mics with Avalon pres.

Send same signal to high speed analog and there is more info there. Dont get me wrong, the digital is really good, but the analog edges it out.

Analog just a ton more of gear to lug to the gig, plus all teh reels of tape to go along with it.
