hi Paul,

thanks for the response; i can hear what is very special and unique about tape and particularly 'The Tape Project' tapes; but for now i must hear it 'thru' the clouded window of 70's solid state crud. it is nice to know you consider these machines as top notch.

btw; thanks for the referral to Fred Thal for the Studer; he seems to be the authority on the subject and i feel confident i will end up with a stellar machine (not cheap but quality never is). he has been a pleasure to work with and treated me great. he has very strong feelings about how he sees the pecking order of RTR machines. also; he has a term for all us amateur RTR guys......TRQ's (tape recorder queers)....too funny!
