Thanks much for your answers, Charles, although #3 & 4 will undermine the faith I have in the integrity of the high-end community! ;-)

I forgot about series crossovers. I had thought they might be pretty rare in production speakers since they must be a pain in the neck--or at least incredibly time-consuming--to develop.

I hope more will chime in on why bi-wiring works.
