Yeah, that was it.I've never seen forums software that behaved like that, though. I you check 'notify by default' in you profile, then it usually will check the 'notify' box when you post, giving you the option to _uncheck_ it if you like.
The other thing you might consider, as with pretty much all other forum software, is the ability to subscribe to a thread instead of only getting notifications for replies to your own posts. That would include the ability to subsribe to threads in which you haven't posted.
On the surface that would increase the number of emails quite a bit, but another thing that most forums packages do, is only send you a single email between visits to the web site. So if there are a hundred replies in a thread but you don't go to the site then you only get a single email.
