Howdy
You have to have the image hosted somewhere.
If you have a URL to a picture just put it in the Optional Image URL box when you post or put it in an HTML IMG:
<img src="http://www.stereophile.com/images/logo.gif">
The asylum has free hosting for contributors but there are a lot of other places to host a picture. (Also I heard a rumor that the next upgrade of the Asylum software will let you upload a picture and host it for you as a part of a posting.)
If you use the Asylum inmate picture gallery you can click on the Get Image Links to get either a URL for the Optional Image URL box or the raw HTML to post a picture anywhere in a post.
Here's an example of that:
<img src="https://gallery.AudioAsylum.com/cgi/gi.mpl?u=7184&f=Snow_Blower.jpg" width=350 height=433>
