Make the URLs on the home page _exactly_ the same as the URLs you're using in the page headers. This way, a user's browser will mark 'visited' links more consistently. I'll tell you why this would be helpful:
- I have http://www.audioasylum.com/ bookmarked.
- I enter on that page and see thirty or so forums, plus additional links.
- I only frequent six to ten of the forums, so naturally (and somewhat unconsciously) I look for 'visited' (purple in my browser) links to forums.
- Once into, say, the General Asylum, I can click on a header link to another asylum, but it won't be marked 'visited' on the Home page, since the URLs are different.
- Similarly, any asylum entered from the Home page will not be marked visited in the headers.
I believe the difference is that the Home page links don't append bbs.html to the URLs, while those in the headers do. Easy fix.
If you want to tackle a more comprehensive fix, common on a lot of other forum sights where the number of forums becomes large, then have a 'Favorite Forums' page that a user can set up and customize.
