alternatives to # of replies indicator in list view?

1) I'm sure this has come up before, but I'd like to register a vote to show "number of times read" rather than "number of replies". In expanded view - is that the only view others use? - I can see the replies, so the present data is not especially informative. Over time, there might be some correlation between number of post views and the quality of that post's content. That could direct my attention to the more worthwhile ones efficiently.
2) Alternatively, or additionally, have you considered something like yahoo's "approve of this post"? That's only one counter for each message, rather than counters for each message for each end user (as with "previously read" markers), so space shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Of course, here you would need a "disapprove of this post" feature, so that maybe we could someday claim the speaker forum back from the savagely relentless Paradox hucksters, who all were apparently driven out of stock touting by the bear market.
Naturally, these indicators would best be visible without having to open the post in question. The whole point would be information at a glance.
