When you enter the search page the cursor seems to be in the nether world. i.e. The cursor isn't in the page at all. You must click the mouse to get the cursor in a box.
I would suggest that the cursor be positioned in the "topic" box.
I would echo the suggestion by someone else that the "and" button be checked over the "or" button as the default for topic selections.
When a result is returned from a search I would suggest that the number of hits be displayed above the "Search Box". Even as an experienced inmate I occasionally forget the format and try subsequent searches, because the result page does not appear any different from the search page - at the top.
I prefer the way the search page picks up the forum from which you launched the search being plugged into the search page.
Overall a great job. The search engine gets progressively better with each interation.
