Illegal photo message?

I have several photos in my gallery. A few days ago I noticed one of them is not the little red x. I deleted it and tried more than once to upload it again. I changed it's size and from jpg to bmp, then back, etc. I can't see that I've exceeded any of the KB or MB parameters so can't figure out what happened. Tonight I tried to reload again and got a message that it's an illegal photo.
I have a couple of other similar photos there and will remove them if they go against the gallery rules or offend anyone, but not sure what's happening.
Anyone know about this? Thanks - Fran
