I've used the HCA-2 with the VSM-Ms, partnered with the Joule LA-150 preamp. I've laso tried this amp with the TSMs as well. The HCA-2 works quite well on both the VSMs and TSMs. It has a nice punchy bottem end, goos stageing and imaging, and a non fatigue-ing tonal balance (at least when used with a nice tube preamp :-) ). The HCA-2 is one of those amps, like the Belles 150A HR, that works well on the merlins for a modest price. Now, it does not make me want to give up the Joule Heavans Gate monoblocks I'm using right now, nor does it have the warmth of the Belles 150A HR, the Belles 150A Reference or the Berning ZH270 (these are amp with a defeinte different character than these amps). The only caveat I have is that the HCA-2 may not be a great match for the older versions of the VSMs, though any TSM should sound really nice with the HCA-2 and my preference would be to match the amp with a nice tube preamp.... I imagine the similarly priced Manley Shrimp preamp would sound really good with the HCA-2.
Hope this info helps.
