First impressions of Belles 21A preamp - Excellent!

First, thanks to you, Rich, and David Belles for the excellent customer service when my preamp was damaged not once, but twice in shipping from the East Coast fo Northern California. My new 21A is in my office system and breaking in.

It's a pretty weird system - $2.5K of transport/DAC (Cal Delta + 24/96 Alpha with tube otput), a $2.5K Belles preamp, a $1,500 ASL Signature KT88/90 SE amp, and a $300 pair of NHT Super Zero's. However, except for the missing bass (Super Zero's only go down to 85Hz!), the system is clean, uncolored, transparent and easy to listen to, and the Super Zero's infamous sibilance is well-tamed. First impression is that it is every bit as good as my Mick Maloney Supratek transformer-coupled preamp, but5 I will have to get it into my main system to run it through it's paces.

Although everyone calls it a tube preamp, it is really a hybrid breamp with both a 12AU7/5814 stage and a transistor stage. I am anxious to get it hooked up to my Tektron 2A3 SET amp after I get the hum pots installed.

Mechanically, it is solid and well-made, with a big, thick circuit board with well-spaced wide traces.

More later.
