I originally posted here how Jim Munzer ripped me off 20 years ago. I can no longer find the original post. It I could 6 months ago or so.
Anyway, I paid for an amp to be made and he ghosted me. He was gone from eBay and his previous boss at Boulder Audio hadn't been in touch with him for quite a while and couldn't help. Jim had just gone to ground, I couldn't find any activity of his at all online. I checked every so often over the years but never saw him again.
Flash forward to March of last year when I saw someone with a similar name posting in DIYaudio in the tubes forum. It was a thread about using the 6bl7, the same type I had commissioned him to make. He showed a few of the amps he made and said that he had more around as well. He then went on to say he had been a designer for Boulder Audio and I knew it was him. Messaged him and he admitted it then wanted to use email instead. He sent several of those messages before I saw them. Emailed him later that day and he replaced that he wanted to get me on the phone to explain. I sent another email asking him what was up and that was the last time I have heard from him. He also stopped posting to DIYaudio under that name at least. I have sent multiple follow up emails and DM on DIYaudio and have not gotten anything back.
I gave him the option to either refund me what I paid or sending me one of the amps he showed on that thread. Crickets. So yeah, Jim Munzer/jaime Munz is still a thief 20 years later apparently.
