I received one of these notices and assumed that it didn't really come from ebay, but it is getting harder to tell.
I get a lot of notices saying that I need to update the information on my Washington Mutual checking account or whatnot. Since I don't have a Washington Mutual checking account I assume the notice is an information gathering ploy on the part of some operator with no relation to Washington Mutual. No bank would actually send such an email, and a bank that cut people off abruptly wouldn't last very long.
