I came across this ad on eBay and asked the following questions of the seller:
1) Do you have feedback on a site other than eBay?
2) Can you please estimate shipping to zip 77355?
3) Can you please forward any further photos?
4) You preferred method of payment does not seem to be listed. Do you accept Paypal?
His reply:
Hello,
The buy it now price is $4100 including the shipping charges and the insurance taxes.
I am from Chicago, but at this moment I am in France - Paris. The items are at TNT office in Chicago, packed and ready to be shipped.
I am an ebay square trade member and they will guarantee for me in this transaction.
I will deal only through ebay.
Please reply asap.

How many red flags show up here? First, he is proposing to sell a new pair of 5A's at 30% of retail. Second, he joined eBay on 4/8/05 and has no feedback, yet claims to be an eBay Square Trade member. Third, there is NO 'Buy it Now' option listed in the ad. Fourth, he gave no actual answer on the question regarding payment options.
I have reported this to eBay. We'll see what happens. Caveat emptor.
