I did pay for the turntable through paypal using my Visa card, so under ordinary circumstances I could have disputed the charge through my credit card company as "item not as described."In order to do that though, I needed a copy of the original ad to prove that the seller failed to disclose the modifications he made to the turntable. Since Audiogon didn't have a copy of the ad, I would be up sh1t's creek without a paddle when filing the credit card dispute. Fortunately, the seller finally relented and I was able to get my money back less shipping.
Make sure to save a copy of the ad on your computer (and not just a link to it) if you buy something through Audiogon.
