Fedex delivery drivers are not employees like UPS. They are contracted workers. Fedex operates on a different business model then UPS, from how they run their routes, scheduling, QCA, payroll, etc. The fact Fedex uses contracted workers (versus full-time, benefited employees) is one plausible reason why customer experiences may differ so much.
