Just how many ebay "Second chance offer" e-mails can one expect these days?

I recently bid on a nifty bit of audio gear (an Oracle Premiere with SME V & Sumiko SHO cart). Wasn't terribly surprised when I was outbid by $900 or so. Also wasn't surprised when I received a second chance offer to buy the item.
What REALLY surprised me is that to this point (2 days after auction end) I have received 17 "second chance" offers, each with a different e-mail address for the supposed seller. Some look somewhat legit (having the correct ebay formatted message), and some are pretty lame.
Anyone else get that many?
