FWIW, I bought a LM 218ia over a decade ago from Pitch Perfect Audio. At the time, LM was exclusively imported by Tone Imports.(and still is as far as I know) The opportunity to buy this amp online at that time was nonexistent as far as I know. That said, now I see a couple LM amps popping up on Amazon. This not to mention the sellers in China. Needless to say, the earlier exclusivity has evaporated. Like PaulF70 has said already, I'm sure these are just products slipping out the back door at LM. Certainly not being cloned by a mystery knock-off manufacturer. Are they built to the same standard as those being sold by legit dealers? Who knows? Bottom line for me is if I were in the market for a LM product, I'd once again buy it from Tone Imports or any other legit dealer. Each to his own, but despite the savings, I prefer not to roll the dice on a four figure purchase.
