Thanks to the late Patrick Turner we have Triode data. Because I am enjoying listening to this valve in SET I am curious about it. Using Stephies distortion formula. The low down loadlines are Patrick's . My loadline is up at the dissipation curve 5K6. Im pretty sure I've got 2nd accurately enough at 5.9% I'll grant you 3rd and 4th look odd. That is caused by flattening of the sine wave peaks. So if you want to banish more 2nd go Class A PP and move the thread. I may do so anyway. The mu is good in my book so it may stand Sukuma style EL38 driving EL38 IT or LCL coupled. Probably not much gain prior, if any. Time to give the Mesh plate 27 a try maybe with unbypassed cathode resistor.Strange way I arrived at the EL36, Id bought a pair of EL36 and a friend donated 4 Mazda PL36, I was going to go build the EL36 from ETF 2006. I wasn't there. Only place Ive been was vsac 2003. And our little snug Yorkshire group. Though people come from across UK and Pierre of Tribute came once to deliver my 10k 212 SET output transformers. Anyway when I studied the distortion of the EL36 I wasnt impressed 2nd was fine 4% but 3rd was 4, not my cup of Tea.
I really love the El38.I find the power on my Quad 57's is fine in my top floor room. I was so impressed I immediately bought two more nos, which cost me
Sorry I cant post the curves. I can send them to you if you message me.
