I am not trying to bash anyone on this subject

Tube Wrangler is, I think (if I am not being too presumptuous) talking about tuning by ear - his ears and those of others who have heard his amps. (even without comparisons of different bypassing approaches).

What objective tests would you perform and what criteria would you use to determine which, among various bypass methods, is "best"? I don't know the answer to the question. I do know that in some cases, the argument is made by some people that ears+brains can detect sonic differences that some tests can not.
