After rolling a bunch of vintage American 5U4Gs (and not any of the new production offerings or ultra-expensive vintage variants), I remained with the Tung-Sol 5U4G with top getter -- which turns out to be often recommended today. I don't know current pricing, but something tells me it will be affordable relative to the value of that amplifier.
