A balanced source, with the negative side grounded, is an un-balanced source.
That won't cause any problems at all.
We do things like that all the time in the studio.
The only purpose for balanced lines is their lack of hum. (that is to say, with balanced lines any hum picked up in the wiring is rejected)
In a home system with, relatively short line level runs, hum shouldn't be a problem to start with.
