I have personally discovered that changes on the heater circuit on INDIRECT tubes powered by AC are audible. I have personally altered the sound by changing the heater wire and also the power supply cable. My heaters have a separate power cable.
So do not think of it as an unbelievable phenomenon. I'm glad you discovered it by yourself. You can also play with the wires, transformers and polarity (by swapping the heater pins of each tube and listen).
