You might enjoy wading your way through this thread by a UK group on building an economical version of this inexpensive Russian tube. It is apparently easier to drive than a GM70 and can run at 500 volts and 80- 90 ma. However it needs a top cap.

One of my GK71 tubes was bad so I am waiting for more to arrive. My multiple SMPS power supply and the high frequency AC heating appear to be working.
Just remember that the goal of this amp is to be light weight and to try some different ideas. Great sound is not the goal though I suspect it might sound fine.
