20. The operating potentials of a tube must be adjusted so that
conduction takes place in the proper operating regions of the
characteristic curves. Selecting an operating point for a triode on
the straight portion of the characteristic curves [and limiting the input signal so the operation of the tube never leaves the straight portion of the characteristic curve] will provide
c. a change in plate current that is proportional to a change in
grid potential.
This is , more or less, the definition of linear.
