I find its the total design that maters not the tube type. Owned Moth, Wave length, bottle heads, wrights, airtights, antique sound labs, dareds, Bel canto. So many more I can not recall....5 JK 45 alone, 3 JH,3 WAVACS, 2 Mastersound most all ASL. I can go on and on. And 45 SET is very good but very limiting a 300b is not so limiting and can sound as good or better than 45 2a3 etc etc. It comes down to total design and build not tube type. Again all SET need care in matching loudspeakers. Just not much matches well to 45. On my 45 SETs I had to design loudspeakers just for them. Then you have really no limits caused by amplification.
