I have a pair of Maggie 1.6Qrs, now bumped back to surround sound status. They will run fine on my Decware Taboo amp (6 watts single ended pentode) but are a little weak in base response. My Decware Radial 3s are a much better match for the Taboo. Before the Radials, I was a confirmed Maggie fan. I normally ran them on a Bel 1001 amp with an Audible Illusion Mod3 preamp. Although this was a fine match, the BEST amp I've ever heard the Maggies on is Acoustic Research. My advice to any Maggie owner is to poney up and get the best Audible Research amp you can afford. This is the only amp I've ever heard the Maggies display truly punchy bass.
That said, I would never go back to SS amplification. The Radials sound too good. I'm hooking them up to a Vaughn Carina SET next week which should provide an even better sound.
