I actually changed the whole system. I guess that the biggest difference is that I had a subwoofer before and now I don't have one. I had thought that because the Reference 3A's are physically much bigger than my previous monitors that I wouldn't need a sub. I guess I was wrong. If anything, the Reference 3A de-emphasize the bass compared to other monitors. Everyhting is very clean and tight but without much impact. Will be fixing the problem by adding a sub again, maybe an MJ Acoustics. The Corian cabinet of the Reference 3A really does sound different than wood cabninet, a friend suggested that it doesn't have the resonances of a wood cabinet which would take away from the bass impact. I think that once a get a sub again, I will be very happy with the system.
