Inspired by all this 45 talk, I was inspired to dig out my best pair and try them again in a Fi Super X amp. Now I can't really remember why I went back to the 2a3 in the Fi (actually, it was probably to get more volumn for a party). The 45 just makes the music come through; you hear (and comprehend, which i guess is the same thing) the music, not the hi-fi system. And the texture of the sound is much more palpable. I know the Fi is not optimized for 45 tubes, but I'm happy just the same . . .
