My 845 monoblocks are anything but weak on bass and highs. I suspect that you have not heard a really good DIY 845 with high end iron and run hot, i.e. 1000 Volts B+ and about 90 ma quiescent. I spent $1,500 on my Magnequest output transformers, Freed power transformers plus separate filament and bias transformer and two big chokes per monoblock. I can assure that these amps are very strong and articulate on both the lowest piano notes and the highest overtones of violin, triangle, etc. that I or any of my friends can hear. The 845 is the biggest bargain in audio and well worthy of the finest iron available. Try some of it, you will never again listen to anything else. If you have to sell your wife and kids to the white slavers to pay for it, well consider it carefully ;-)Roger Hill
