do i missing some things here ? 6GW8 SE amp questions

Single Ended Triodes (SETs), the ultimate tube lovers dream.

I been playing around with a small 6GW8 Se amp and I noted when I connected it pentode i get much more gain than when connect it in triode .
why should this be or I'm missing some things here>?
