I am considering building an 833A SET as follows: 1000volts power supply from centre tapped Hammond 1500volt transformewr and two mercury vapour rectifiers if I can find a cathode heater transformer that can handle the voltage insulation requirement. Two pi filters with pairs of series Unlitic capacitors 750 volts 100uf each for 1500 volts (and bleeder resistors 250K) 4 henry chokes. I am thinking of driving it with a 45 SET capacitor coupled so that it has some low frequency rolloff so that a subwoofer takes over, the 45 driven by a 6SN7 choke loaded mu follower.
I am thinking of using it with Bohlender Grabener RD40 planar transducers in open baffles. In short, I would like to circumvent the need for speakers in a box but it seems that more power is needed than a 45 can make.
