In an amplifier, with AC filaments without a hum pot, the filament winding is either grounded by grounding the center tap of the winding or by creating a center tap using two small value resistors. There will be one resistor from each side of the filament winding to ground.If two small value resistors are used they can simply be replaced with a small value pot with the wiper going to ground. If instead, the center tap of the filment winding is grounded you will need to "lift" that ground first then add a pot across the filament line.
(if the output tube is cathode biased, the "ground" I speak of is the top of the cathode resistor and the bottom of the cathode resistor is circuit grounded)
If you can solder you could do this yourself.
