Hello,I am doing some experiments, bi-amping my Tannoy System1200, because the need of more power for the 12" DC drivers is obvious.
First of all, the crossover frequency for the horn is 1.3 kHz. Going below - with an active crossover - is no good idea, because
the horn will get unlinear. This is part of the Tannoy DC philosophy.
The musical improvement is simply astonishing to my ears. I have found out, that this even gets better, when both amps have a similar tonal behaviour. So I am going to use a 845 SET together with my existing 300B SET amp. At the moment I am using a KT88 PP in triode mode for LF, which btw. provides quite nice results.Does anyone have experience or some thoughts regarding this issue ?
Cheers,
vintage
