Re: Audio Note P4 or P4SE?

Hi,

I was very busy this week. Finally I have time to write a couple of mails...

I was (very) satisfied with my Dynaudios. I have bought them 6 years ago, because they were the most universal speaker I have heard. At that time I heard 80 % rock (from atomic rooster to led zeppelin) and 20 % acoustic music. For a rock music is a solid state amp a good choice. Nowadays it's vice versa. I prefer folk, song writers, jazz, blues, but in every genre of music a rock feeling is favored.

The sound of my system (after tuning) was really good, but only listening loud to very loud. I like the sound of the dynaudio tweeter.
But with the acoustic music, especially at a normal volume level, I am missing some clearness in the heights and in the middles. I seriously consider now to change my speakers...

Therefore I was in a hifi studio with my solid state integrated ADVANTAGE S-100. They have an AN system (OTO SE & AN-E HE with AN cables) and the Cabasse speakers there.
The acoustic music with the AN system was wonderfull. The AN speaker was a bit better than the Cabasse Bahia (Bahia was not as neutral as AN-E), but the Bahia costs only a half.
The problem was, that my integrated amp likes neither the AN nor the Cabasse speaker. There was little bass in the music, the middles and heights sounded very sharp and cold. I had no fun with that combination. The dealer means, I should begin (exchange) with the amp. The 10 Watts of the OTO SE are not enough, but 18 W of the SORO SE model or P2SE should be enough for my dynaudio Contour 3.3. The dynaudios are well known about their less sensitivity. But the Contour 3.3 model is an exception with 89 dB. The dealer had been sold for 10 years the dynaudios too, he knows the speakers very well. That's why I am searching for an AN amp and not for an AN speaker. The AN amps play well with both (most?) speakers, but the speakers definitelly don't play well with my amp. At the beginning, I will start with one component (amp) and it'll be an Audio Note amp. I spent one hour with the AN components and that was the best sound I have ever heard - the sound after my fancy, very natural, and it was just the level two amp!

It’s quite plain to me, if I buy an AN amp, sooner or later I have to change my dynaudios to some other speakers, such as AN, Cabasse, Zingali...
I hope the P2SE can drive my dynaudios satisfactorily at least for awhile.
Which model of Zingali speakers you have?

The AN Kit (M3) is a very good idea, but I am not familiar with building amps :-(

I have found an P2SE amp for good conditions in Jakarta (via Audioweb), but I am in doubt, the seller has no reference yet...

Regards
Tibor
