Jaiello, I am not sure I follow you regarding the 300b tube and how it affects the watts on these particular amps. The 300b tube has nothing to do with wattage in this case. The 300b is used as a driver tube for the 845 tube. The 845 tube stands alone as an output tube in, hence SET. Using different brands of the 300b, in your case Western Electric, you will effect the sound characteristics of an amp, but not the power. What controls the differences in watts from one manufacture to another is the amount of voltage that is run across the B+, in other words how hard are they driving the output tube, the higher the voltages the more watts. With a scope one can measure the watts of an amplifier all the way into clipping. I have not measured a Cary 805 series amp, I just am skeptical of 50 watts from a single 845 tube as Cary claims. However, they are the experts.
