I have been using Thiel 1.5's in a moderate sized living room powered by a Golden Tube Audio SE-40 amp for nearly ten years. The amp probably is more like a 35 watt amp than 40 watt amp. It is a great combination IMHO. I also find it is easy to hear changes with the Thiel's when I try different tubes or upgrade something upstream of the amp.
