Michael, thanks for your note on the ESL 57 with SETs. Reading your comments and others about using SETs with the ESL although theoretically "controversial", it seemed to work very well in practice.The ESL were a great offer (US$900) locally from a friend!!! No arking and very close serial numbers. My problem was in the end more the restriced space and low output wattage of my Fi 2A3.
Also, I decided I certainly would not get rid of my Abbys, especially since Terry Cain sadly had to stop working on speakers. My place is just too small for a second pair of not so small speakers.
I was very tempted though (still am) and was already looking for slightly higher wattage SETs :) I will probably kick myself over this one.
