You say: "The CD players could in theory drive an AVC/TVC, but I experienced they can't do it right. The problem could be that the inductance of the AVC/TVC varies with the frequency, messing up the DAC, and/or their HF junk reacts with the interwinding capacitances in the iron, messing up the sound beyond belief."

I don't have phono, only digital. I've always heard that to use a TVC optimally, one has to have the right gain and voltage interface between source and amps, AND the digital source has to have a quality output stage. My Dac has a tube output stage (6dj8 or 6s45p, switchable) and is powered by transformers separate from the one powering the dac board.

Would either of the potential issues you mentioned above be addressed in the setup I described, and to what extend?
