I and some friends have been trying out different designs for DHT filament supplies. Conclusions are that an ordinary bench adjustable supply will do the job OK. This, or a couple of voltage regs one after the other, then sounds better with a common mode choke on the end of it. But for the best results you need to use a current source - all current source designs sounded better than all voltage reg designs. Interestingly all current sources sounded worse with a CMC at the end of them.
The RonanReg used a couple of voltage regs (LM1084 are fine here) followed by a final current source. That's one good one. A current mirror also sounds very good. There are some even more sophisticated designs about, but a current source is the way to go in terms of sound. The differences are quite audible. The filament supply should not be grounded, incidentally.
