I am one of those people that like the Sovtek 2A3.... Where the tube shines is when used in my 45 amp without changing the operating points. The 2A3 is consequently running at lower than optimum current. I have old stock 45's and a pair of 245's, the Sovteks are absolutely not embarassed by these relics! When the Sovteks are used in my 2A3 amp they are not my favourite.... I have read at this forum that if a triode is run at low current with slightly starved filaments the music shines (Dr.M), I believe him to be spot on!
I also realize that there are limitless ways of implementing tubes and that implementation can be tailored to improve the shortcomings of the rest of one's system.
