i just recently got a new house, which means new basement space, which means new listening room. i make techno. i have near-field monitors. i know very little about room acoustics. i do know that dimensions matter and materials matter.
currently i have several boxes in this basement room. they are filled with all sorts of things: books, clothing, camping gear. i also have a few bookshelves (filled with books), extra mattresses, suitcases, a file cabinet, other random furniture, etc.
questions:
----------
1) do i need acoustical treatment?
if so, how much?
if so, do i need acoustical treatment inside of the dropped ceiling?
2) can i have a room with a decently flat response while still leaving all my junk in the room? (i'd prefer to leave at least some of this stuff in the room if possible. however, having a flat room is still my highest priority.)
if i've left anything out, just ask.
thanks,
