Ceiling reflections, in the absence of other first reflections, seem to be misleading (sound localisation). So when you treat all first reflections points except the ceiling, the ceiling might be a problem:

That's a point that is known from psychoacoustic research: the less first reflections you have the more the remaining reflections become audible (absolute detection thresholds decrease) and eventually may become problematic.
