Let me expand the question a bit more. According to Dr Griffin's line array paper (http://www.audiodiycentral.com/resource/pdf/nflawp.pdf page 3) a line array shouldn't have significant floor and ceiling reflections for nearfield listening. Because of the full length ribbon tweeter Magnepan 3.6's ought to count as a line array right?So do we even need floor and ceiling 1st reflection point diffusion and/or absorption?
I just got a pair of 3.6s myself and I'm still trying to decided how many DIY 18" QRD diffusors I want for behind the dipoles (maybe 2 rows 3 high on both sides?).
I've got a hanging HF RealTrap for my HT system with single cone tweeters to good effect, but hadn't considered it for the maggies. I'd have a hard time hanging ceiling treatment, but I'm using drop tile down there with 15" compressed fiberglass above so maybe I don't need to worry about it.
